This three-part piece was a part of the Hare and the Hounds show at Blue Space Gallery, San Francisco. New Breed presents 'evidence' of a new species of fungus found in the Mission District, first in the context of the gallery in the form of a photograph resembling spores on a microscope slide, next in a map containing useful information and tools for the potential explorer, and finally, the fungus itself, camouflaged in the interior of Mission Dolores Park. While this piece is concerned with evolution and biology in general, the cup fungus also represents its' geographical origins, (generally Central and South America), giving reference to the history of the Mission District and the current immigration debate.
